Start with dimensions and arrangement

A project can include different opening sizes, panel arrangements and access conditions. Record how many openings are included and which rooms they serve. Ask whether dimensions are approximate or have been measured for the final scope.

A headline price without those details may describe a different job. If comparing a price per area, ask about minimum charges, panel configuration and what the calculation includes.

Make the specification explicit

  • The proposed glazing build-up and any acoustic interlayer or cavity.
  • The frame system, opening style, hardware, seals and finish.
  • Compatibility with existing grilles, curtains and blinds.
  • Any relevant evidence and the configuration it describes.

Do not assume two offers are equivalent because both use “acoustic” or “double glazed.” The glazing guide explains why those labels leave important details unanswered.

List installation and site work

Ask the quote to identify supply, removal where needed, disposal, protection, installation, sealing and finishing. Clarify access equipment, surrounding repairs and who handles applicable property requirements.

Some items may be excluded or subject to inspection. Keep those exclusions visible and agree how variations will be priced and approved before extra work proceeds.

Compare quotations on one page

RecordWhy it helps
Same measured openingsPrevents comparing a partial scope with the whole job.
Same stated specificationShows which differences are product choices.
Included work and exclusionsMakes the total scope visible.
Payment, timing and aftercareCaptures commercial terms beyond the installation price.

This guide deliberately does not publish an invented market price range. Ask for a written quotation for your actual opening. An initial discussion based on photographs is different from a final measured scope.

Prepare for an accurate quotation

Send property type, approximate dimensions if safely available, opening photographs and the main noise problem. Include any management requirements already received.

Use the quotation checklist when reviewing the proposal. Confirm current timing and warranty terms for that particular quote rather than relying on an industry average.

About this checklist

This is a general planning checklist. Project prices, lead times, products, warranties and final suitability must be confirmed for the actual quotation and site. It does not introduce new commercial terms.
