Describe the room
Tell us your property type, affected room, noise source and when it bothers you. Say whether you normally keep the windows open or closed, and which room matters most.
Send photographs of the opening, surrounding walls and existing grilles. Include curtains or anything that could affect access. Only photograph areas you can reach safely.
Check the configuration
- Opening: how will the windows open, close and seal?
- Everyday use: will the arrangement suit ventilation, handles, cleaning and grilles?
- Specification: what are the dimensions, frame system, glass build-up and finishes?
- Evidence: does any acoustic test cover the glass or the complete assembly?
“Double glazing” leaves important details unstated. Compare the actual configurations and supporting information, rather than the number of panes or a headline claim. The highest-looking rating is only useful when you know what it describes.
Compare the work included
Check the scope: fabrication, supply, removal where needed, installation, sealing and finishing around the opening. Ask about access, exclusions and the property’s requirements.
Confirm timing, handover checks and warranty terms for your actual quote. If acoustic requirements are demanding, ask whether a professional survey or specialist assessment would be useful.
Photographs show appearance. Recordings demonstrate an on-site change. Laboratory data answers a different question. Establish which evidence matters for your project before deciding.
Start with your property type, room, noise source and window photos. We can then discuss suitable window options.
